Professional architect and urban planner, Yonas Alemayehu Soressa’s expertise ranges from the design of public and private buildings all the way to planning and development of urban level interventions. In spite of having designed smaller scale projects like offices, factories, residential and mixed-use buildings, his primary research covers public housing issues on a much larger scale. With a strong academic background in ecological urban planning he has extensive professional experiences in urbanism, having implemented a number projects involving the design, planning, and development of neighborhoods across Ethiopia. Within the academic realm, he has lectured in the areas of housing, sustainable development, architecture, and urban design for universities in both Ethiopia and abroad, as well as peer-reviewed for well-known book publications.
