Recognizing the issue of condominium schemes which overlook the original identities and lifestyles of specific income groups,  the thesis project “From Home to Home” sets focus on design alternatives that embrace the contrasting backgrounds of the many groups migrating to the city. Taking into consideration ranging traditional lifestyles that residents may be accustomed to depending on specific hometowns, the project is geared toward reinstating cultural spatial organization that acknowledges said contrast between inhabitants, bridging the social disconnect that is often imposed by standardized housing schemes. With special attention to communal outdoor spaces, Cheng takes into account the diverse uprooted identities of  residents coming from ranging locations, exploring alternatives to equitable cohabitation that seek to create a sustainable relationship between life and the built environment.
