Marja Elsinga is a professor in Housing Institutions & Governance at the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology. She teaches on housing institutions, policies and markets at bachelor, master and PhD level and emphasizes the fact that housing is a basic need, a physical infrastructure and a financial asset. Her research focuses on governance of housing and ways to find sustainable solutions for adequate housing for all. She has published widely in academic journals and is editor of Elsevier’s Encyclopedia of Housing & Home. Finally, she holds positions in practice such as being a member of the supervisory board of housing association Ymere and the advisory board of Platform31.
