Aiming towards socio-economic co-existence “The Inclusive City” proposes a residential system that is more considerate of neighborhood qualities specifically catered for a quality childhood within urban scenarios. Looking into the often overlooked point of view of children, this research brings attention to childcare related considerations such as the experiential aspects of routes to school, playtime between classes, and after school or extracurricular activities. Via direct consultations done through personal interviews with local children, this compilation of real-life references enabled a more participative approach that is especially relevant to Western designers unfamiliar with these living conditions. In response to this knowledge, Garti developed a design that implemented important collective spaces catering to different age groups, including spaces designed to cater shared activities such as playgrounds, roof terraces, gardening and sports facilities.
