The annual DAIDA Foundation Global Urban Thesis Award aims to acknowledge and support Master graduates who, through their work, help improve the urban infrastructure and living conditions for vulnerable groups in the rapidly growing cities of developing economies. Shortlisted amongst other ten graduation projects was the design proposal by alumni Zhuo-ming Shia, which was awarded the competition’s third prize. The awarded thesis was developed with the support of the Addis Ababa Living Lab team and targetted issues that were closely related to the project’s initiative, focused on the creation of innovative housing building systems that would cater to wider audiences in Ethiopia.
