How can we open doors to new aspirations while drawing on existing values?  Seeking to bridge the apparent opposition between local and universal, this question is precisely what Antonio Paoletti’s “Architecture in Motion” seeks to unfold. Through the exploration of the current housing situation in Addis Ababa complemented with oral fragments of memories and historical footages, this investigation stems from the familiarization of the development of patterns of everyday life in the neighborhood. The aim of the project is twofold: on the one hand it intends to draw on the existing values and collective memory to reconfigure the narratives of historical districts; while on the other hand, the ambition is to provide a structure that can adapt through time and be open to change.
